What are Clinical Research Studies?
What is a Clinical Research Study?
Clinical research studies, also known as clinical trials, are done to better understand the safety of an investigational procedure or medication and how it works in the body. They are necessary to develop new medicines and treat conditions such as MS. Doctors who run clinical research studies are called Principal Investigators. Principal Investigators are qualified and trained on the research studies they conduct. They often have a research team which may include other qualified doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals to help them run clinical research studies. They are responsible for the study-related care of the people who join.
What is the Purpose of Clinical Research Studies?
The purpose of a clinical research study is to answer scientific questions. Therefore, clinical research studies follow strict, scientific standards to protect patients and help produce reliable study results.
